Contract experts will offer advice and guidance during Nov. 3 event at County Operations Center.
he County of San Diego is hosting a “Doing Business with the County” workshop on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the new County Operations Center.
Free to the public, this procurement outreach workshop is designed for businesses of all types. It will cover subjects such as registering on the “BUYNET” website, bid and proposal terminology, rules and regulations, payment terms and how to search for business opportunities.
County contracts will total about $1 billion this year. Those contracts include about 2,000 purchase orders and an additional 30,000 procurement card transactions. While the county’s largest outsourcing contract is the $90 million it spends with HP for information technology services, the majority of the contracts are far smaller and with much smaller businesses.
San Diego County purchases a variety of goods and services. Examples include window washing, substance abuse treatment, herbicides and qualified vendors to perform services on an as-needed basis.
The Nov. 3 workshop, the last of five to be held in 2011, is truly designed for all businesses who wish to sell and do business with the county.
Advanced registration is not required and all businesses with services or products to sell are encouraged to attend.
The workshop location is Room 120 of the County Operations Center at 5500 Overland Ave. For more information or directions, please call (858) 537-2500.
