Stephanie Gioia joined the Fourth District in March of 2004 to work on health care and social service issues for adults and children.
A UC Santa Barbara graduate, Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and spent over four years on the staff of former state Sen. Dede Alpert. Her work experience prior to politics includes serving as a counselor and supervisor for severally emotionally disturbed children in a residential treatment center.
Stephanie’s experience working with abused and neglected children inspired her passion to affect policies that would protect and provide opportunities to foster youth and other vulnerable populations. It was a natural step for Stephanie to transition into becoming a community representative to former Sen. Alpert, who was a leading advocate and policy maker for children’s issues.
For Supervisor Roberts, Stephanie develops policy recommendations and serves as an advisor in the areas of health care, social services and juvenile justice. She works with Community Health Improvement Partners policy committee, The Council of Community Clinics, Family Health Centers of San Diego, San Diego Workforce Partnership and the eight hospitals located in the Fourth Supervisorial District. She also serves as a liaison to a variety of other agencies and government departments that administer programs in these policy areas.
The San Diego native also represents Roberts before the Polinsky Children’s Center Board of Trustees, San Pasqual Academy Foundation, San County Childhood Obesity Leadership Council, Nutrition Security Taskforce and Juvenile Justice Comprehensive Strategy Task Force.
